Surfrider Speaks to House of Commons on Zim Kingston

Surfrider Foundation Canada was asked to speak to the House of Commons on March 30th along with Ocean Legacy to advise on Zim Kingston Container spill update. Lucas Harris, ED of Surfrider Canada and Alys Hoyland, from Surfrider Pacific Rim Chapter presented the history, present situation and recommendations to deal with such a spill in the future. They fielded questions from many of the MP’s and recommended actions for the Federal Government to reduce the impact on coastal environment which which involved collaboration with local First Nation population, training spill teams, providing equipment and allocating financial resources to do so.
