We’re back at it again! Since 2018, we’ve been success with our campaigns to get local bans on plastic bags, plastic straws, plastic cutlery and polystyrene takeaway containers. Now, we’ve got our eyes on one of the most common remaining single-use plastics on the Pacific Rim: plastic coffee cups and lids.

Plastic coffee cups and lids are used once, rarely recycled, use virgin plastics that contribute to the climate crisis, deplete water, shorten the lifespan of landfills, and pollute the environment when not managed properly. Plastics also contain 4200 unregulated chemicals, which become even more hazardous when heated, thus posing a human health issue.

We need widespread adoption of reusable systems to address the plastics crisis, and again - lower water use, lower GHG emissions, and safeguard human health.
