We’re back at it again! Since 2018, we’ve been successful with our collaborative campaigns to achieve local bans on plastic and bioplastic bags, plastic straws, plastic cutlery and polystyrene takeaway containers. Now, we’re seeking a local ban on single-use plastic coffee cups and lids and hard bioplastic lids in Tofino and Ucluelet, along with a minimum charge for businesses to distribute single-use locally compostable coffee cups.

Plastic coffee cups and lids are used once, rarely recycled, use virgin plastics that contribute to the climate crisis, deplete water, shorten the lifespan of landfills, and pollute the environment when not managed properly.

We need widespread adoption of reusable systems to address the plastics crisis and shift to a circular economy.
