On what was easily the sunniest Earth Day we've had in years, 63 people did a solo MUP cleanup and logged their data with us! Collectively, we removed 2795 items from the bike path and ditches that drain into the ocean, including:

987 Cigarette Butts

125 Cans

222 Plastic food wrappers

310 Plastic fragments (from cars as well as packaging)

There was also a shocking amount of Covid-19 related trash, including 43 face masks (35 surgical, 1 N-95, and 7 reusable cloth masks), 15 latex gloves, and 5 disinfectant wipes.

Huge shout out to the volunteers that ran super sorting stations at Tofino Botanical Gardens and Ecolodge, Hotel ZED, and Tourism Tofino, as well as to all the awesome humans that took time out of their day to show the MUP some love, including staff teams from Pacific Sands Beach Resort, Cox Bay Beach Resort, and Surfgrove. You guys rock!
